Concerts
Every year, OVFF presents many fine concerts.
There is the Pegasus Award Nominee's concert on Friday night, the GoH concert, the InterFilk guest concert, and even occasionally one given by the Honored Listener.
There are also concerts given by other members of the filk community.
Pegasus Nominees Concert
The Pegasus Award Nominees concert is held every year at OVFF on Friday
night. At this concert, all of the songs nominated in the "Best Filk
Song", "Best Classic Filk Song", and that year's two rotating
categories (this year, it's "Best Tragedy Song" and "Best
Comedy Song") are presented; sometimes by the composer, sometimes by
other performers. This affords OVFF attendees one last chance to hear the
songs before they vote.
The final ballots for the Pegasus Award for Excellence in Filking are then cast, and the Pegasus committee then counts the votes, along with those ballots cast by filkers throughout the world via on-line or mail-in balloting, and only then is it known who will win the Pegasus this year.
GoH Concert
Our Guests of Honor, Tim and Annie Walker,
will give their concert on Saturday.
InterFilk Guest Concert
Our Interfilk Guest, Sibylle Machat,
will give her concert on Saturday.
Toastmaster's Concert
Our toastmasters, Graham and Becca Leathers,
will give their concert on Saturday.
Other Concerts
There will be other concerts as well. The programming schedule is still
in its early stages, so check back here for updates as the concerts and
performers are arranged and scheduled.
One-Shots / Twofers
For those who do not have a concert, but have songs or other performance
pieces that they want to share with the entire convention, there are the
One-Shots and Twofers.
Because of the level of interest in performing at OVFF, slots are handed
out by a random draw.
Sign-up sheets for the one-shots will be at the registration table. The
names and order for the available Twofer slots will be drawn from a hat
at 8:00pm on Friday Evening, names for the One-Shots will be drawn at midnight
on Friday.
OVFF's Taping Policy
Individuals are welcome
to record tapes of performances on the concert stage and in the open filks for their
own private use as long as
the recording is unobtrusive and the performer's
implied permission is
given. Performers have the
option of announcing,
"Please donÍt record me"
prior to their performance, and we expect everyone to comply with their wishes. Failure to do so will have negative results.
If you are interested in taping this year's convention for commercial
reproduction, please write us for a bid package.
