2003 Best Performer w/ Clam Chowder

Science fiction and fantasy have permeated my 49 years on this planet. I was born the night my mother went to see the "Creature from the Black Lagoon" in 1954. I watched "monster movies" as soon as my mother could get me into the theaters. Things got still worse when the written word became available, and it's been downhill since then.

I have sung and played music my whole life, but things got out of control in 1972, when I picked up the guitar. My first con was Discon II where I first encountered filkers. Most of the performers were awful, but the songs were clever and funny.

In time I discovered the medieval hobby and applied my musical talents there. This led back to fandom. Next thing you know, I added this band. During all this time I learned the guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, concertina, folding chair and other instruments.

I think I've tried my hand at most styles of music, vocal and instrumentals, and the leftovers from all that have infected my own personal style (if you want to call it that) to the extent that I am always looking for a new sound or approach to a given tune. This is a large part of why I find no mixture of song and style too improbable to try. It's one of the reasons why Chowder has always had such a unique sound (the other reasons being the wonderful and talented folks I've had the pleasure of knowing and singing with for all this time).
