2020 Best Performer mp3

Have you ever wanted to hear a Disney princess sing about the things you love...board games, ninjas, and krakens? Rhiannon's Lark is happy to make your wish come true. This geek-goddess-girl tackles everything from t-rexes to ethical dilemmas with insightful lyrics, gorgeous vocals, and gentle humor.

Creator Alyssa Yeager is both a professional musician and practicing music therapist. In 2007, she released her first album, an all-original children's album, Normal is Boring, inspired by her work at Rainbow Babies and Children's hospital in Cleveland, OH. Later that year, things got a little heavier (musically speaking) as she joined up with world class drummer Sue Balaschak to form the duo Telling Point and began touring the festival and convention circuits with their unique brand of tribal rock.

In 2013, Alyssa's solo project Rhiannon's Lark was born, bringing together her unique perspectives on nerdery, spirituality, and moral choices in a chaotic world. Over the last several years, Rhiannon's Lark has been a guest at Filk, Sci-Fi/Fantasy and gaming conventions and festivals including OVFF, DragonCon, GenCon, Origins, Conflikt, Sirius Rising, and many more.

Alyssa has 12 albums available for streaming and download at rhiannonslark.bandcamp.com, including Rhiannon's Lark and Telling Point originals, a geeky guided meditation CD, and several live albums with originals and 50s-60s covers.

Tiny Kraken
You are so adorable
Makes me want to sigh and coo
Baby Kraken
Safe under the water
How could anyone fear you?

Little Kraken
Exploring your tide pool
Your first teeth have just come in
Toddler Kraken
Wondering how the world works
You're just learning how to swim

Oh but the world makes assumptions
When you've got a big head and tentacles
If you're not the hero then you must be the villain
And you're just not quite hero stuff

Gangly Kraken
Awkward with the other fish
Fitting in is hard to do
Adolescent Kraken
Dragging quite a stench around
Everyone makes fun of you

Oh but the world makes assumptions
When you've got a big head and tentacles
If you're not the hero then you must be the villain
And you're just not quite hero stuff

Full grown Kraken
Now it's time to prove yourself
You know what they all expect
Adult kraken
Chaos follows in your wake
Men and ships alike all wrecked

Oh when the world makes assumptions
You know they deserve what they get
You can't be the hero so you will be the villain
You'll be the greatest villain yet

Decades of despair
All across the seas
20,000 Leagues and the Lord of the Rings
Stout men's hearts will slacken
When they hear "Release... the Kraken"
You'll be the greatest villain yet

Overweight Kraken
Lounging in the watery depths
Reflecting on your reign of terror
Geriatric Kraken
Ready for your quiet years
Put to rest the world's great error.

Oh when the world makes assumptions
You know they deserve what they get
You couldn't be the hero and so you were the villain
You were the greatest villain yet
