We left our home a year ago
Set a course for the stars
Past Phobos and Deimos
Moons that orbit round Mars

Blue and white earth is gone now
A remnant pinpoint of light
Travelling through time and space
Our anchor drifting from sight
We sailed away to Mars.

Black of space goes on forever
We venture in search of a place
Visions of our home planet
Seen through the eyes of Mars’ face.

Mariner and Viking showed us
The Martian mountains and plains
Planned our steps to the future
Released us from all those chains
As we sail to Mars.

Instrumental

We’ll sow the ground with our seeds
Tap the planetary core
To warm the barren surface
And transform Mars for evermore

Blue and white earth is gone now
A remnant pinpoint of light
Travelling through time and space
Our anchor drifting from sight
As we sail to Mars.
As we sail to Mars.
Someday we’ll sail to the stars.
