The Ballad of 9-1-1
Lyrics Copyright ©2001 by Ray Phoenix
They've run the course, they've passed the test
They're counted with America's best
Because they've done what must be done
The volunteers of 9-1-1.
Brave firemen, brave policemen too
Bold men and women, tried and true
When danger strikes, when trouble comes
They heed the call of 9-1-1.
I'm sorry, Dave, your father died
But you can take a patriot's pride
He died to help each mother's son
A volunteer, on 9-1-1.
They marched into that burning hell
And as they climbed, the towers fell
What is this thing that has been done
To these our friends, on 9-1-1?
3,000 souls no more shall live
A nation mourns, then yearns to give
A helping hand to every one
The call goes out on 9-1-1!
From every corner of our land
Come volunteers to lend a hand
They'll search until the search is done
For those who fell on 9-1-1.
And still the spirit's going strong
United we can right the wrong
Our faith is strong, our time will come
And we'll remember 9-1-1.
We will prevail, our time will come
And we'll remember 9-1-1.
