Deer John Letter
Music and Lyrics Copyright ©2001 by Renee Alper
As a yearling, I learned from my mother
"Always look before leaping", she'd say
But when I met you, my deer lover,
I looked, and I leapt anyway
Although some might think that it's corny
I thought your love came straight from the hart!
But now I can see you're just horny
And that's why, my deer, we must part
CHORUS:
You've been rolling in does in the clover
Think I'll make a few bucks of my own
You're stuck in a rut, and it's over
'Cause deer, you just wanna have fun
When we mated and picked our hind quarters
I thought that our love couldn't fail
But while I was home, raising our daughters
You were out chasing some tail
It must be a terrible strain, deer
Always wanting more bang for the buck
If you find yourself out in the rain, deer
Frankly my deer, I don't give a damn
CHORUS:
You're always out flaunting your antlers
Buck-naked, in rut, and uncouth
You meet a young faun, and enchant her
And then have her served on the hoof
I don't caribou if you're randy
It's really become quite a drag
So go head-butt your bimbo named Bambi
And buck off, you fawn-loving stag!
BRIDGE:
I'll hunt down your sweet hart and snag her
So she'd better run for her life
If I find Buxom Bambi and bag her
You'll be mounting a real 'trophy-wife'!
CHORUS:
You've been rolling in does in the clover
Think I'll make a few bucks of my own
You're stuck in a rut, and it's over
'Cause deer, you just wanna have FAUNS!
