Mary Bertke was introduced to filk in 1990, and went to her first OVFF in 1991. The first song she wrote that could be classified as filk was, however, written in 1988, in freshman year English class: Song of a Homesick Dwarf on a Subway. Sadly, the title is better than the lyrics. Mary has been an Interfilk Guest, but has spent much of her time behind the scenes as part of OVFF concom. Outside of filk, she loves Irish traditional music, focusing on session tunes (banjo) and unaccompanied ballads. Want to make a friend? Ask her about ice skating.
