Marilisa Valtazanou IF SAM

Marilisa was born in Iowa, raised in Greece and now lives in London; she celebrates her multinational background by having a song in an obscure language for every occasion. She will attempt to play any instrument that is foolishly left in her path, and she occasionally writes songs, but mainly she sings. A lot.

Marilisa performs with Mich Sampson as Playing Rapunzel both inside and outside the filk community, bringing filk music to the folk world and vice versa. Their first CD, Abseiling for Beginners, was released in February 2009. Marilisa also performs with Chimes, the nMC, and, from time to time, pretty much everyone else who doesn't run away fast enough.

Outside filk and folk circles, Marilisa performs with her local G&S Society, teaches singing, and takes up enough hobbies to fill up her entire spare time and then some. During the daytime, she indulges her inner pedant by working full-time as an editor for a large cancer charity.

Occasionally, she sleeps.
